The full and half marathon course have been re-certified this year to accommodate a change that the city has asked us to make.  The change is near the top of the course and DOES NOT affect the fast downhill section of our race.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS 

To avoid the congestion when arriving at Confederatin Park there are 3 exits
off the QEW that should be used:

1. Woodward Ave — OR
2. Centennial Parkway — OR
3. Fruitland Rd (Exit) to North Service Road 

PARKING FOR SPECTATORS WATCHING START OF RACE

For runners getting dropped off, or for spectators at ArcelorMittal Park start location, there is NO parking at the actual Park this year. The FREE parking is provided 400m from the Park at "Starlite Drive-In" located on Green Mountain Road. See parking for drop-offs at start map!

IMPORTANT: The "Starlite Drive-In" parking should only be used by people watching runners start the race. Runners NOTE: THERE IS NO SHUTTLE BUS BACK TO THE START AT ArcelorMittal Park AFTER THE RACE! 

MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON SHUTTLE BUS AND PARKING DETAILS:

Marathon and Half Marathon shuttle buses leave Confederation Park for the start line at ArcelorMittal Dofasco Park starting at 5:00 a.m. 
(Last bus for Marathon and Half Marathon - 6:45 a.m.)

**Come early in order to get to the start line in plenty of time. There is a nice warm place to wait until the race begins.

 You CANNOT PICK UP YOUR RACE KIT at ArcelorMittal Park (start line) YOU MUST PICK UP RACE KIT AT EXPO.

IMPORTANT FOR ALL MARATHON RUNNERS REGARDING PARKING! 
  

  1. TRANSPORTATION WILL BE PROVIDED from the finish line at Confederation Park to the start line at ArcelorMittal Dofasco Park starting at 5:00 a.m. 
  2. NO TRANSPORTATION WILL BE PROVIDED back to the start line at ArcelorMittal Dofasco Park.
  3. All runners driving to the race should park at the finish line at Confederation Park where you will catch a shuttle bus to the start of the race.

RUNNERS! DO NOT PARK AT THE RACE START. There will be NO shuttle buses to take you back to the start of the race location. 

Be sure you have a ride home from the finish line at Confederation Park.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ON RACE WEEKEND

If you have any questions or concerns our race representatives and volunteers will be happy to assist you at Confederation Park.

Following the race you can get your finishing time screened onto your race shirt! Go to the Expo tent and Race Merchandise will screen your time for only $5.

Please Note: If you want your time screened, DO NOT wear the shirt to run in. The sweat leaves burn marks when screening.

Pick up all Race Kits at the Health and Fitness Expo held at Confederation Park on 
November 4 & 5, 2016 at Confederation Park, 680 Van Wagner's Beach Road, Hamilton.

**November 6 Half Marathon & Full Marathon - NO RACE KIT PICK UP ON RACE DAY! Unless you purchase the R2H+ Race Pick Up package. For $25 your bib and T-shirt will be waiting for you at the start line. You can choose this option when registering. If you decide after you register that you want this option, please contact road2hope@live.ca and you will be sent an invoice for this option.. If you do not choose this option, your bib will NOT be at the start line.

ROAD CLOSURES ON SUNDAY FOR FULL AND HALF MARATHONS

Northbound Red Hill Expressway all accesses from past Dartnall Rd. to QEW, closed at 7am. Expect delays on Centennial Parkway & Mud Street from 7:30am to 10am. Also expect delays at Barton Street & RHVP as well as Beach Road to North Service Road by Confederation Park.

 

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Please note that daylight savings time takes effect on race weekend. Please adjust your 
clocks accordingly and enjoy an extra hour's sleep! 

RACES START/FINISH

  • The 1K, 5K and 10K start at Confederation Park.
  • The Half and Full Marathons start at ArcelorMittal Dofasco Park, located at Green Mountain Road and First Road East.
  • All races finish at Confederation Park.

HALF AND FULL MARATHON EVENT DETAILS: NO Race Kit Pick Up On Race Day!!

STARTING TIMES for FULL MARATHON 7:30 am and HALF MARATHON is 7:45 am

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL MARATHON RUNNERS: 
All runners must be off the Red Hill Valley Parkway by NOON. NO exceptions! (23km mark for full & 11km mark for half)

WATER STOPS are approximately every 3km, some vary in distance. There will be nuun energy drink (lemon lime or tri-berry) and water at each stop.

GELS and BLOKS will be provided by CLIF and are available for the Full Marathon at the 23k marker only.

PORTABLE TOILETS will be at located every water stop except the first stop.

Please write your name, emergency contact and any allergies/medical conditions on the back of your bib #!

PACE BUNNIES

Pacers willl be provided for the following finish times:

Half Marathon -  1:40; 1:50; 2:00; 2:15; 2:30

Full Marathon -  3:30; 3:45; 3:55; 4:00; 4:15; 4:30

Where to Meet on Race Day

On race morning you'll see them lined up according to their pace and holding signs with their finish times. Just fall-in with your group.

THE CHIPS ARE ATTACHED TO YOUR BIBS! Your bib must be visible and NOT covered during the race! The chips are disposable. Please be sure to write your full name, emergency contact information and any allergies or health conditions you have on the back of your race bib.

PARKING, ACCESS AND SHUTTLE BUSES

There will be free access and ample parking at Confederation Park during the events. Shuttle access will bring participants to their respective start lines for the Full and Half Marathons. All events finish at Confederation Park, so runners will be able to get to their vehicles easily after finishing. Arrive early to catch your shuttle to the start line (approximately 2 hours before race start time).

NOTE: Shuttles will NOT be returning people to the start area, so DO NOT park by the starting line up top. Rather, take advantage of the ample parking at Confederation Park and take the shuttle up before running down.

AID STATIONS

14 water stations on the Marathon course, 6 water stations on the Half Marathon course and 2 water stations on the 10k route. Washroom stations will be provided at each water stop along the course, approximately every 3km. For the half and full marathon, aid stations will have water and nuun energy drink.

MEDICAL

St. John Ambulance will be on location plus bike paramedics on course. If you have a medical problem on the course, each water station has communication. 
There will be medics on bikes, plus 3 vehicles patrolling the course as well as St. John Ambulance. 

Thanks to the "Mikey Network" for providing a defibrillator for our medic tent!

 

 

 

CHIP TIMING

All racers and runners will be using timing chips. Pick up your timing chip at the race kit pick-up. Without your timing chip, your time will not be recorded!

Participants are responsible for verifying that the timing chip device provided by Chip time Results or the participants own device is working properly prior to race and worn correctly during the race. Any problems with the timing chip device must be addressed at the Info table and they will be directed to ChipTime. 

FREE BAGGAGE CHECK FOR MARATHON PARTICIPANTS

Full and Half Marathon participants can check their bags on SUNDAY at the race start to be bussed back to Confederation Park for retrieval upon race finish. Please allow ample time to check your bags prior to race start. 

CHANGES OF BIBS AND RACES - FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE AND NON DEFERABLE!

If you need to change your bib or race, you may be able do that before the race by going back to the registration page, click on 'sign in' then click on 'transfer'. There will be a $10 fee for changes made. You can make a change at the EXPO before your race. Check the registration details and times on the EXPO page. There is no refund if you cancel or if you change to a lesser distance race. You will pay the extra if you go to a higher distance race. THERE IS A $20 FEE FOR ANY CHANGES MADE AT THE EXPO.
